I just got back from a trip to Barcelona, where I went to the OFFF Creative festival. 3 days of fantastic speakers giving really inspiration talks, needless to say I’ve come back feeling super inspired to make new stuff.

I went to the festival with these fine folk above, and I wanted to snap some goofy portraits of us all, taken inside the venue because the huge white interior gave a really nice flat light, so I just asked the guys to pull a funny face!

I just updated the BÖIKZMÖIND website, with some links to buy the book/DVD, added the ‘Every Time’ video and made a bunch of wallpapers for desktop, iPad and iPhone featuring the Bunny himself, pictured above!

Dear America, here at Aardman Animations in Bristol, UK we’ve been hard at work for the last 5 years making our latest stop-motion feature film; The Pirates! Band of Misfits, which is out in your cinemas FROM TODAY! I urge you to go and see it because it’s funny and it’s beautiful!

Live in Bristol? Well then come ride your bike (it doesn’t have to be a fixed gear!) on a wee short ride around town and then head up into Clifton to eat some fish & chips with us on Thursday night! I’m really keen to bring back the social and casual side of bike riding, which i feel has been lacking a bit here in Brizzle, so #ChipShopRide is my attempt to get everyone together to ride bikes a bit, do a lot of chatting and eating chips!

So, come join us this Thursday (26th April) - Meeting at A Fair Cup, opposite the Hippodrome in the centre of Bristol at 6.30pm! Just cross your fingers it doesn’t rain as much as it has been doing these past few days!

More BÖIKZMÖIND fun, this time the t-shirt I designed for the DVD/Photo book launch that happened on Easter Monday! To coincide with the short film I made and the main film itself, the tee features the head & bow tie of everyones favourite furry star of the film, the Bunny!

My favourite bit of the tee is that it has a layer of glow-in-the-dark ink behind the main print, so once it gets dark, suddenly the bunny looks a bit sinister!

Here we are, the BÖIKZMÖIND (My fixed gear bike documentary) DVD and Photo book package is finally here! It’s been a fair few months in the making but so happy it’s now out for all to see, I’ve never designed a whole book before so really pleased with how it’s turned out!

The package consists of a digitally numbered 95-page 22cm photo book featuring behind-the-scenes photographs, notes & scans, cataloguing the creation of the film. The multi-region DVD features the full documentary plus a behind-the-scenes featurette, photo gallery and bloopers plus some other extras! The whole thing is bound together by a cord-embossed screen printed wrap cover, which is magnetically sealed!

A huge thank you to Ripe Digital for printing the books and thank you to Whiteduck Screenprint for printing the wrap covers!

To celebrate Easter and the launch of the BÖIKZMÖIND DVD/Photo book which happened today here in Bristol, I made this short film starring everyones favourite furry friend, the Bunny! This beauty here is the BÖIKZMÖIND ‘Boik’, lovingly put together by the excellent Freshtripe! This project has been ongoing for a long time and has had it’s fair share of trials & tribulations but it was finally finished last weekend and was proudly displayed for the first time at the Bristol Bespoked bike show at the Freshtripe stand!

My favourite part is the white-on-white graphics which have been applied to the frame of the bike, it’s only under closer inspection in the right light that the frame reveals statistics from the films creation!

You can see it in the flesh at the BÖIKZMÖIND Screening + DVD/Book launch + Q&A which is happening this coming Easter Monday, 3pm at The Watershed cinema here in Bristol! There’s not many tickets left, so grab yours here and you can also pre-order your DVD/Book to pick-up from the launch too!

5 years and thousands upon thousands of frames later, Aardman’s latest stop-motion feature film The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists is out in the UK… TODAY! Make sure you go and see it, because it’s flipping brilliant! I’m so proud to be an Aardman-ite, especially when you see the sheer level of detail and craft that has gone into the film, the end credits alone are a thing of beauty!

Jobs don’t get much better than this… I had to design a fortune-teller-style Facebook app for our feature film The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists (Out in the UK on Wednesday 28th!) featuring none-other than The Pirate King, BRIAN BLESSED!

The app is now live, just think of a question to ask the wise old Pirate King and Brian, sorry, the King, will bestow and bellow at you with a nugget of wisdom! Go and have a play of it right here on Facebook!

The whole thing was built in HTML5, courtesy of our web genius Ben Reid (my favourite part is the mouth movements that dynamically match the pitch & volume of the sound effect, clever boy!!)

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but I’ve had my head buried deep in a world of BÖIKZMÖIND, organising everything ready for the above event! Y’see, I’m having a launch event for the DVD release of my fixed gear documentary ‘BÖIKZMÖIND’, but rather than just have a disc in a plastic cover, I’ve made a 93-page photographic book to accompany the DVD, covering the whole process of making the film and beyond, right up to the premiere! The whole thing will come packaged in a red card wrap sleeve with the disc mounted within it, which seals shut with magnets!

So, why not come along to the launch event here in Bristol and grab yourself a copy of the DVD/book! The event will be a screening of the film, a “Director” Q&A (I use quotation marks because I don’t feel like I can be called a director, I don’t know what the flip I’m doing!) and the first place to grab your copy of the DVD/Book (as well as a couple of other surprises too!)

It’s all happening on Easter Monday 9th April, 3.00pm at the Watershed Cinema here in Bristol. You can buy your tickets online here (£5.50 / £4.00 concessions) and you can also pre-order your copy of the DVD/Book online here so you can guarantee you can pick one up on the day!

Here at Aardman the clever clogs feature film people have been beavering away on a brand new stop-motion film called ‘The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists’ which is released here in the UK on the 28th March (click here for the worldwide release dates)

In the Digital department we’ve been hard at work creating the website and a bunch of games to coincide with the release of Pirates, which you can see above! I had the pleasure of designing the site, working with the incredible assets from the production floor, I was lucky enough to have access to the immense props, characters & artwork library to create everything, so it’s been an absolute dream to work on!

There’s 3 games and a Facebook app that we’ll be releasing and adding to the site soon, so in the meantime check out the site here www.thepirates-movie.co.uk and take a visit to Blood Island!

Here at Aardman, where i work by day, we’re gearing up for the release of our latest stop-motion feature film ‘The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists!’ (or Band of Misfits over in the US). It’s been in production for over 5 years now but the end is in sight, because it’s released on the 28th March here in the UK and the 27th April stateside!

Hello there! It’s been a while since my last update, that’s because I am knee deep in getting the BÖIKZMÖIND photo book / DVD package ready for its launch, which has now been confirmed for Easter Monday 9th April! It’s all going down at the fantastic Watershed cinema, so mark that date in your diaries, more info coming soon!

Anyways, this morning I woke up and was humming the song from the end of Bugsy Malone, as I heard it on the telly last night. I’ve loved that film as a kid (and as an adult!) and then when I remembered the lyrics to the end part, they really stuck out to me. As a kids film, they’re really poignant and beautiful words, so I fancied doing something that wasn’t BÖIKZMÖIND for a change and did the above graphics!

Heavily inspired by my awesome RV3NGE t-shirt, I set about just playing with nice typography to put something together. I decided to use nothing but typefaces from the awesome Lost Type Co-op, as I’ve wanted to do something with their fantastic fonts for a while!

Anyways, I hope you like and remember - you’re gonna be remembered for the things that you say and do!
