I work with a lot of talented people here at Aardman Digital. Not only are they super awesome at their jobs, they also have hidden talents, talents that they’re too modest to shout about. One such person is Kirsten Williams, who I’ve only just discovered has a beautiful voice!
She’s just uploaded a new track that she’s sung on, a cover of an Ed Sheeran song, and I heartily suggest you go check it out on her Tumblr blog. I shot the above photo of the lovely Kisten, just as a nice image to go with her audio post. Go have a listen!

Well, the gods were smiling down on us yesterday because we had glorious sunshine for the whole of the BOIKZMOIND Outro shoot! Everything went without a hitch fortunately, we had a fantastic turnout and we even had the Police on our side when they let all of us ride over the Suspension Bridge before it re-opened to traffic after an accident, thanks guys!
I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to ride, I really appreciate it and it showed just how strong the fixed gear scene in Bristol is. I’ve checked my rushes and it all looks great, really does look like an army of riders flowing through the city!
I want to say an even huger thank you to everyone behind the scenes who made yesterdays shoot possible: Merlin, Jonny, Tom, Michaela, Laura, Ricky, Katie, Brad & Ben - Could not have done it without you, thanks guys!

In the run-up to tomorrow filming fun, I wanted to get some flyers printed up to spread the word. The thing is, I don’t like waste and there’s nothing more wasteful than a flyer handed out to someone, then to be scrumbled up and discarded in the bin. So, I dropped Rik at Ripe Digital a line as I had an idea for how to get the word out and hopefully reduce the waste.
So here’s what we have, an A5 flyer which is printed on un-coated stock, but then fold it in half along the crease line and you’ll get a gloss-laminated A6 spoke card! I’ve been leaving these in the spoke cards of fixed gear bikes i’ve seen locked up around the city, hoping to convince them to come along tomorrow and join the film!

I am very stoked to say that myself & Dan Efergan are going to be speaking at Bristol’s very first TEDx event on the 8th September! I’m honoured to be speaking alongside such luminaries as Richard Noble & Arthur Potts Dawson!
Mine and Dan’s talks together tend to be a lot more ‘fluffier’ than most, and being the creative idiots we are, we’ll be more inspirational than educational, but I hope people will take someone away from our talk.
The tickets are limited to just 100 people but aren’t available yet, you can register your interest for when they do go on-sale. You can do that here: tedxbristol.com/tickets

Eek! Unfortunately Millennium Square in Bristol is going to be closed off this Sunday due to a festival, so i’ve had to move the meeting point for this Sundays filming to Cafe Gusto on the Harbourside, just a stones throw away from Millennium Sq (see here on Map).
So, please do spread the word about the change of location, you can download the new poster here and the facebook event is here.
It’s getting close now, lots to organize and I’m getting really excited. i’m hoping it’s going to be like a red & white-clad Critical Mass but with a few extra cameras thrown in! Please do spread the word and come on down!

So stoked to say that tonight I’m off to Lonon tonight to attend ‘The Critters’ awards, put on by Ubelly.com. I’m over the moon as I’m only flippin’ nominated in the ‘The Next Big Thing’ category, haha!
I was nominated by the panel of judges but the winners will be chosen by the attendee’s tonight, so who knows what will happen!? Cross your fingers for me!

I don’t have a replacement computer or camera yet but I’m not letting that stop me announcing that my fixed gear documentary will premiere OUTSIDE on the Bristol Big Screen in Millenium Square on Saturday 20th August @ 8pm!
It’s completely free and open to all, so I would love nothing more than for you, yes you, to come on down and check out the film. So, save the date and spread the word :)
Right… I’d best finish the film then ‘eh!

Carrying on from the BAFTA fun in my previous post, here’s a video of Dan & the guys accepting the award then having a wee chat with the lovely Zoe Ball afterwards! Congratulations all!

I am VERY happy to say that last night we (Aardman Digital) picked up a flippin’ BAFTA in the ‘New Media’ section for Wallace & Gromit’s World of Invention!
I’m very proud to say I was part of the team that designed & built a website and physics contraption building game to coincide with the television series!
Dan, Ricky, Laura & Karen went down to the big smoke along last night with the good folk of the BBC for the ceremony and we’re all over the moon that they’re returning with a golden mask!
A huge congrats to everyone who worked so very hard on the project, I’m beaming just writing this! :D

Let me introduce you to ‘Papa Cavey’, who is a custom cavey plush that I designed on the computer and the wonderful Holly Stanway aka alittlestranger brought to life, all by hand, for the Cavey Birthday Party event happening next week in London!
Holly says: “At 4inches tall, he’s made from white fleece with gold hand stitched detail and pink and gold felt embellishments. Gold zipper mouth surrounded by tiny hand cut teeth. Hat is removable. Features a ‘Jam Factory’ Fabric label. Weighted in the bottom so he can stand unassisted”
You can see all of the wonderful customs from the likes of Phil Corbett, Jon Burgerman, Sneaky Raccoon and more, all together at the Cavey Birthday Party next Thursday 26th May at the Fleet River Bakery in London, click here for more details!
You can see more more photo’s and details of my Cavey here and you can also bid on eBay to win this one-off plush right here!

Sorry for the delay in recent posts, my flat was burgled and amongst the many things the thieving buggers took, my laptop was once of them, so I’m rendered computerless apart from when I’m at work!

Anyway, something I worked on over here at Aardman recently was a fantastic project with McCann Erickson Bristol, was a takeover of the Nickelodeon homepage for Lego’s new project ‘Ninjago’!

So basically I got to design stuff with Lego, Ninja’s and swords, as the user could wield a 3D-rendered sword and chop up the website in real time!

Check it out in the video above, it was a very fun project to work on!

There’s no denying the fact that I hate most reality television shows. What was once pioneering programming is now an excuse to exploit those on the borderline of insanity and delusion.
One in particular is ‘Britains got talent’. I haven’t seen any of it except the trailers but that was enough to tell me it didn’t contain any real talent, just fodder for the British public to laugh at on prime time television.
The thing is, I know that Great Britain has a huge wealth of talent across all areas, and during a whimsical tweet saying we should do something about it, I decided I should live up to my word, so I started a new blog entitled ‘Britain HAS got Talent’. I basically just want to showcase everything and anything that really shows talent & excellence, from any discipline. Im adding stuff myself but am also encouraging submissions for folk to send in their own work or stuff they’ve found!
